Sophia

Success Story! Sophia has been adopted!

Sophia is a rags to riches story: born to a pair of domestic fancy rats who escaped their habitats, Sophia spent her infancy in a crawl space, living the life of a wild rat, with no idea of her origins! When she finally was captured and given a habitat with proper care and diet, she initially was terrified of feeling exposed, and spent most of her time in her fleece sleeping bag.

Our big concern was that she may not like humans, since she wasn't exposed to any as a baby. However, Sophia adores being petted!

Sophia was so excited to see her new digs, she ran circles around her transportation tank while waiting for her move.

I had to rub her ears to calm her down for her move.
She investigated her jungle gym, crawled around under her fleece, and then nestled in a corner 1/10th the size of her previous space.
Silly Sophie!

Sophia is currently being fostered at the Clinton branch of Happy Tails Worcester Foster Rats, but can easily be transported to Worcester for adoption. Sophia is waiting to be reunited with her sister, Emma, who was caught after Sophia. They will be available to be adopted as a bonded pair by Monday, January 9, 2017.
